2021 Flights

2021 Flight Schedule

After having been grounded nationwide since March 2020 because of COVID-19, we are very excited to be able to once again take our veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials that were built to honor their service and sacrifice, according to Jim Pettit, Operations Director. Our first flight back will be on August 31, 2021.

“We had 60 veterans scheduled when the flights were cancelled last year, and sadly, several of them have passed away in the interim. That only serves to underscore the importance of us returning to flight as soon as possible, given the advanced age of our veterans”, Pettit said.

In order to speed up the process of taking the veterans, the local honor flight will charter a plane for the August 31st flight. “We will be able to take 60 veterans versus the 22 we take on a normal flight”, he said.
Plans are to do the same in October and November.

Greater St. Louis Honor Flight has taken 93 flights and over 2500 veterans since its inception in 2009.

Testimonials

“My heartfelt thanks to Greater St. Louis Honor Flight crew for the opportunity you gave me to visit our nations Capital and most importantly our own World War II Memorial. I certainly enjoyed the entire day which was full of pleasant surprises. It is nice to know that many people in the USA appreciate what we did 66 years ago and take the time to say ‘Thanks’.”
